How difficult it is to work in a hotel considering it is a very demanding 24-hour occupation where you have to put on a smile even if it is your birthday and you may be on a double duty, even if your child is writhing in pain due to high fever at home and your shift reliever has not turned up for the night, a smile even if you have just received a call from home saying your child has flunked his final exam. Yes! Working in a hotel means a lot of passion and you are required to work whole heartedly or else there are bound to be unhappy customers.
Considering all members of the staff have families and personal lives to take care of, it will not be wrong to say that a major part of employee dissatisfaction stems from lack of time for oneself and clashing of similar interests among team members which can be minimised through well planned duty rosters. The key step is planning, so lets explore the various factors to keep in mind when planning and how best to accomodate staff needs.
